9/11 HR Hero Gentul Remembered

Alayne Gentul, senior VP of human resources for Fiduciary International, was more than a manager. She died in the Sep 11 attacks in New York. Alayne called 911 two minutes before the building collapsed, saying that employees needed to get out. She was doing her job until the moment she died. That is her legacy in terms of what it means to be dedicated to her colleagues and their well-being. One thing Alayne taught was what a great field HR is.

Leasing industry professionals are all too familiar with the negative effects on the US economy of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Within days, the aviation insurance industry cancelled 3rd party liability coverage of war risk for the entire airline industry. Coverage was restored thereafter only on severely limited terms. Insurers on commercial policies for other personal and real property are now routinely excluding terrorism and war risk, and insisting on high premiums for such coverage.
